BeeSwarmly exists because too many healthy colonies are lost to swarms that could have been predicted. We’re building the tools to change that.
Every spring, beekeepers around the world lose productive colonies to swarming events they never saw coming. Weekly inspections miss the subtle signals — a 1.8°C rise in the brood-nest periphery, a shift in acoustic frequency, a change in daily weight patterns — that begin 48 to 96 hours before a swarm.
By the time a beekeeper notices queen cells or unusual clustering at the entrance, it’s often too late. The colony has already made its decision.
Thermal grid — the pre-swarm pattern
BeeSwarmly places small, non-invasive sensors inside the hive body to capture the data that human inspections miss. Temperature, acoustics, and weight are sampled continuously and fed into a prediction model trained on thousands of real swarm events across multiple climates and seasons.
When the model detects a pre-swarm signature, you get an alert — typically 72 hours before the event — giving you time to inspect, add space, split the colony, or take whatever action fits your management style.
“Bees give us all the data we need. We just have to learn to listen.”
Every product decision starts with colony welfare. If a sensor requires hive modifications that stress the bees, we redesign the sensor — not the hive.
Your hive data belongs to you. Export it anytime, in any format. We publish aggregated, anonymized swarm research to benefit the entire beekeeping community.
Prediction tools should work for backyard hobbyists and 500-hive commercial operations alike. We price accordingly and keep the interface simple.
No algorithm ships until it’s been validated across three growing seasons, multiple climates, and at least 200 hives. Lab results alone aren’t enough.
We’d rather send one accurate alert than a dozen false positives. Our confidence threshold is intentionally conservative — because your time matters.
Hive sensors live outdoors in rain, heat, and frost. We test every component to IP67 standards and offer a three-year warranty on all hardware.
Whether you’re a hobbyist with two hives or a commercial beekeeper managing hundreds, we’re here to help you get started with predictive monitoring.
